Australian Opal Jewelry by Variance Objects

Australian Opal Jewelry

Australian opal carries shifting color, pattern and natural matrix. We follow those seams carefully so the stone’s play of light stays intact.

About Australian Opal

Every piece of Australian opal presents a different arrangement of color. Some stones hold bright spectral flashes; others reveal softer bands, pale fields or areas of natural matrix. We cut in response to what the rough contains rather than aiming for a repeatable silhouette.

That process preserves more material and lets the opal decide the scale and direction of the finished piece. The setting is then fabricated around it by hand. Read more about the material in our Opal history article.

Sourced with Intention

Ethical Gemstones

We use Kimberly Process certified diamonds and traceable colored gems from trusted, family-run sources.

Recycled Precious Metals

Most of our precious metals are recycled, but not all. Our unique handmade process lends itself to less waste and less toxicity.

Respect for the Rough

All our colored gemstones are cut from rough stones. We highlight the rough beauty of each stone with a focus on color variation, rough formation and natural textures.
